Hi there, my name is Garrett. I hold a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Walden University and bring nine years of experience working in mental health across recreational, crisis, and private practice settings. I have experience supporting adolescents and adults navigating depression and suicidality, anxiety, trauma, grief, substance use, psychosis, developmental disabilities, and traumatic brain injuries. My counseling approach is integrative and tailored to each client, emphasizing a holistic understanding of their experiences, relationships, and overall well-being.
A foundational piece of my counseling approach comes from the idea that we as individuals are often best understood within the context of relationships we form with others. My background in crisis services has shown me how deeply our mental health can be affected when we feel isolated, disconnected, or alone. I strive to help clients strengthen the relationships that support their well-being while also recognizing when dynamics of relationships may need to change in order for them to flourish. Together, we can develop healthier communication strategies, become more attuned to the connection between your body and emotions.
My aim as a clinician is for clients to feel acknowledged, understood, and accepted while we work together to promote self-exploration, vulnerability, and insight. Clients are encouraged to identify and change their counseling goals as needed so that our work together remains purposeful, focused, and oriented toward meaningful outcomes and change.
My fiancé and I recently moved from Texas to North Carolina to be closer to family and get away from big city living. In my free time I enjoy exercising, reading, traveling, and spending time with loved ones.
Let’s discuss whether I can be of help to you and figure out whether we are a good fit for each other during this chapter of your life.
