Juliana Schiano
LCSWA

Hi, I’m Juliana, but most people tend to call me Jules! I have a Master’s Degree from UNC Chapel Hill in Social Work, as well as two Bachelor’s Degrees from Elon University in Human Service Studies and Communication Design. I am originally from Philadelphia, but have loved living in North Carolina.
I have had the opportunity to work with a diverse range of individuals in various settings throughout my career. Initially, I worked helping to facilitate mediations for families navigating child custody proceedings. Additionally, I have worked with individuals seeking gender-affirming care, as well as with university students, both at the undergraduate and graduate level. Most recently, I have worked with adolescents at an intensive outpatient practice. There, I helped to provide therapeutic intervention to teens three times a week through group therapy in addition to individual and family sessions.
My therapeutic approaches are largely based in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Art Therapy. I enjoy working with adolescents, young adults, families, LGBTQIA2S+, and neurodivergent clients. Regardless of your identity or the issues you may be facing, my goal is always to create an environment where you feel comfortable engaging in your therapeutic journey. My approach to therapy is person-centered. I believe that you are the expert in your own life. My job is solely to offer strategies and a healing space to help you live more authentically.
When I am not at Keep Counsel, I am most likely either sewing, at the pottery studio, or reading. I also love spending time with my adorable cats (Vincent and Joel) and being outside!
If you think we’d make a good team, let’s schedule a session. I am excited to meet you and honored to be a part of your journey.
